Manuel Alejandro Montero Miranda

Born in 1980. He started his studies at the age of 15 years to enter the University of Costa Rica, where he worked under the tutelage of Lic. Ramonet Rodriguez. One year later, is part of the Guitars Orchestra of Costa Rica, with the group involved in his five recordings by record companies who travel the most diverse musical genres, showing that their CDs:
“En tiempo de danza”, which are completely innovative adaptations of works for symphony orchestras such as the Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 by JS Bach or La Vida Breve by Manuel de Falla.
“Paisajes Iberoamericanos” which investigates Central American folklore, commemorating lot of composers who had remained in oblivion and even wearing a proposal original compositions for this particular group.

The Orchestra of Guitars has been directed by master of the stature of Jesus Ortega, Komatsu, and by maestro Leo Brouwer, in a concert dedicated to his music and his career as a composer.
With this group offers concerts at major festivals in the country, as well as tours of Cuba, Germany, Holland, France, the United States, Central and South America.

In 1999 wins first in the “national Classical Guitar Competition,” sponsored by the Cultural Center of Spain and guitars Kashimira (Valencia).
Appointed honor student at the University of Costa Rica during the years 2001 - 2002 and graduated with distinction in the year 2003.
Incursiona in the field of flamenco guitar accompanying the bailaora Marisol Navarro in 1997, and hereafter becomes common presence in the different shows produced domestically and internationally instruction, to accompany dancers like Juan Polvillo, Daniela Tugues and Angel Atienza ; among which are:
• “I and II International Festival of Flamenco.”
• “Contigo tierra de Andalucía.”
• “Latido Flamenco.”
• “Entre mares”
• “Tributo a Lorca” among others, which not only appears as a first guitar, but as musical director, entering at an early age of his career in the field of composition for solo guitar to dance and collaborating with a lot of artists productions record as a flamenco guitarist.

He has accompanied workshops flamenco dance artists of the stature of Miguel Vargas, Israel Galván, Leonor Moro, Antonio “Pipa” and Isabel Bayón among others.
In 2004 participates in the International Classical Guitar Competition in honor of Niccolo Paganini, “Michelle Pitalluga” where semifinalist is next to countries such as Japan, Germany, Italy, Finland and Spain, becoming the first guitarist in Costa Rica to attend a competition in Europe.
In the year 2005, participated in the Festival and Competition “Ligita”, carried out in the principality of Liechtenstein, the only American in attending this edition, which becomes one of the finalists.
During the same year, participated as a soloist in several festivals of classical music, for example, the International Festival fusion of contemporary music or the XII International Guitar Festival where guitarists were present on the size of the Duo Assad and Pepe Romero, among others , becoming in turn, excellent personal criticism.

In 2006 he premiered his first solo album, “De ida y vuelta”, with eleven of his compositions, representing both the first recording of this type made by a Costa Rican musician. It comes in different scenarios through the group “Kantera”, a group of Flamenco, unique in its style and format at the national level, founded by Manuel, which not only gives space for the flamenco guitar and a fine ensemble of musicians, but also for two of its essential elements: dancing and singing. Its premiere took place during the XIII edition of the International Guitar Festival, sharing scene in that edition with teachers like Enrique Granados, Pepe and Celín Romero, the Canadian Remi Boucher, and thus receiving excellent reviews.

He has received very distinguished classes with teachers: Alvaro Pierri, Luigi Maglioni, David Russell, Rafael Andujar, Victor Monge “Serranito” Edward Martin, Jorge Chicoy, Shi nichi Fukuda, Leo Brouwer, Scott Henderson, Luis Salinas, Pepe Romero, The Duo Assad, Pavel Steidl, Jury Colerman, Dale Cahavanah Gerardo Nunez and Jorge Luis Zamora, the latter his latest teacher.
Today is a founding member and professor at the College of guitar, which stands out as one of the educational institutions of higher prestige and artistic leader in formalizing curriculum area completely unknown in the cultural milieu in Costa Rica as the flamenco guitar , which has already begun to bear fruit, proof of this, two students of the institution in the field of flamenco guitar, which has decided to continue with its specialization in Spain.
